Sianz week

Very sianz week...Not so busy but i am grateful for the office mailbox that connect me to the outside world.

I am also grateful for my team mate, Eden for setting up yahoo group that feeds me with alot of messages and my close friend for his daily emails that feeds me about outside world.

I am becoming little country mouse that "cuts" off from the outside world. Can you imagine what it is like living in 3rd world countries with little technology?

I am breathing in city life on weekend. Darn it i even do not have chance to hang around at newly underground shopping arcade at Raffles City but had sat with my close friend for drinks.

Breath in city life again and i am city girl again.....

Realised one thing..You can give 50% to your work that you may not enjoy but give the rest of % to something that you enjoy doing.

I am looking forward to dragon boat where people gets crazy and to chill out in sun. This beats sitting in office facing computer. What's good are the colourful personalities in dragon boat. Bravo..i am looking forward to weekend where i can chill out..

will blog again.. WIth hugs and kisses...I wish to have hugs from friends to comfort. Hugs do bring comfort that speak no words and warmth to the person...

How i celebrate National day in Singapore?

How time had flown.. Singapore had grown from an small island to commerical city to global city where many foreigners and local come together to make Singapore a place for us to work and play..

Come to think, as living standard has risen up, many young Singaporeans are venturing out to foreign land learning many new things to bring home to share and to contribute to economy. Singapore spirit are united in times of SARS. Salute to doctors and nurses who are fighting to save lives. Singaporeans also stay united to make sure that we are healthy enough to make our home clean.

Landscape of Singapore had changed from Old Singapore where there were many shop houses in China town. No tall buildings for offices to work... Only coolies and trishaw men to be seen in street working so hard to make SIngapore our home.

Old Singapore (Shop Houses in Chinatown)

Looking at this photo. Can you imagine how this shop houses had sprouted into high rise commerical buildings?

As i was taking part in NUS Triathlon Sprint, the cycling route was challenging for me, an invoice who picked up cycling a year ago. I had near-death experience in my adventure race while riding on bicycle not long after i learnt how to ride bicycle.

The cycling route in Triathlon was from East Coast Hawker Centre via Big Splash. I begin to cycle faster towards Fort Road exited to Mountbatten Road. Then along the Mountbatten road passing SADeaf and turn to Nicholl HighWay. What a sight of high rise commerical buildings standing in the heart of city.

I begin to cycle towards Esplande and made U-turn to the road via Suntec that lead back to Nicholl Highway. I started to marvel at the fast changing of Singapore.

Taking part in NUS Triathlon was the way to celebrate Singapore's birthday. When i return back to Fort Road and enter East Coast Park, weariness started to over come me.

Suddenly i pedalled furiously back to East Coast Park Hawker Centre (Transition area) to finish one more discipline.

After putting back the bike at Transition area, i begin to run 5km. It was fairly short for me and managed to finish all 3 disciplines, 500m swim followed by 22km cycling and last of all, 5km run.

It was great sprint i ever did this year.

Had a good rest and head for dragon boat training which last for 2.5 hours. Shiok that i could not sleep well at night. Grab 3 hours sleep and went blur at work in morning.

Feeling high after triathlon and will take part again in Aqauthlon(Swim and run) in coming September..

Happy Birthday , Singapore with my best timing of swimming and running (cycling is unbearable!!)

Motivation and passion?

Motivation comes from individuals or your own achievements. Passion stem out from the individual in areas of serving God, volunteerism or at work or your own goals you want to achieve.

For example, one volunteer started his/her volunteer work in one community service. Initally, he/she does not know whether volunteerism is her/his calling. When the person is engrossed in doing many things for the community services with her/his giving heart, he/she will feel the sense of achievement from the work done in community services. Hence it sparks off the passion in her/his heart to continue his/her calling.

Therefore she/he finds the motivation in the service of volunteerism. Motivation does not mean that it comes from passion. People around her/his also play the role in bringing the passion to higher calling.

If the people are like-minded in serving with the giving heart without uttering compliants or share the same passion, motivation starts to form. The person will feel the sense of belonging because she/he knows that there are support from other people. People can support one another when in times of troubles or weariness or oberburnt.

Being supportive will motivate the person to stay in line of her/his passion to achieve more.

The environment does play a role too. For example, volunteers are caring and supportive despite the landscape of politics conflicts. It is good because people knows that they are united in team spirit despite the difference in view points or personality.

It taught me many lessons as i went along managing my dragon boat team. I know that the team is growing but the lessons i draw are the support and team being united to work towards the common goal, to have a great race that each person will not forget.

My goal for SAVA Sprint race will not be about winning. I want to make things happen that people will not forget. SAVA Sprint race should be the memorable race for everyone to experience how to row with visually handicapped and deaf people.
