My "Punishment"
My friend admonished me last thursday on my leadership qualities. It set me thinking for a few days.As i was writing the this blog, thoughts started to run inmy mind. It do help me to reflect on my leadership qualities.
I realised that for the past 3 years, i had been learning many things from the individual that comes along my path. Learning many things and having going through many painful trial-and-errors that brought me heart aches in past years.
It is time to anaylse my leadership style again and to refresh myself.
It all start with the renew passion that i have to take a rest and to think again. I am stepping in the new level of leadership where i have to motivate people, give the direction for them to lead. What's important for me is to allow the ownership filter through the team mates with firm decisions.
I am reading up on the book about leadership again.It renew my faith in my leadership qualities. Motivation comes from the passion within you that you will flourish to be better leader with sound and decisive mind. This is the basic principle that i need to remember all over again.
Over the years, i had been doing many things that i had forgetten the basic principle. It is time for me to sit back to reflect.
I have to change my thinking and must be more pro active in creating an environment where the mates will find the ownership to lead before i can move on.
Tips for you and myself to remember:
- Create a reliable, robust and attractive vision of the future that people will respect and believe in (meaning that they'll enthusiastically follow your lead)
- Communicate your vision, and see the benefits as people work to the best of their abilities to complete the projects you initiate successfully
- Grow your self-confidence, becoming a calm and self-confident leader, and one who inspires confidence in others
- Build a reputation for expertise and a track record of achievement that teams members and your peers will come to respect, value and trust
- Make good decisions under pressure, with the confidence that you’ve done the homework needed for these decisions to be right
- Build a strong, flexible and highly effective team, expanding your ability to deliver many times over
- Develop the sureness of touch shown by the best leaders, and learn to build the empathic, mutually trusting relationships needed for maximum team performance
- Enjoy mutually rewarding, co-operative working relationships with team members and peers.
- Enjoy the happy, energizing atmosphere that comes with this;
Keep people on target and performing well together in a “firm but fair way” that gets the job done while respecting the rights of team members - Learn to inspire and motivate team members so that they'll "go to the ends of the Earth" to give their very best
- Become a truly inspirational leader, and enjoy the perks that come with this
This brought me many memories in past where i was very active in leading people. Over years, i had been learning and enrich myself that i develop my own personality.
I thank my LORD for the valuable lessons being learnt for past years and for the strong friendship i share with this funky, yuppie friend. Amen
It is like marking on the book, correct the mistakes that you will learn and understand.Red marking will make you remember not to fail and to pick up, remember and move on with fresh start.
