Taxi Drivers' Service

I am lamenting over the taxi drivers' service and their knowledge on Singapore's roads.

I had bad experiences with them several times but i can remember 2 terrible encounters with them.

Let me recount one that occured on last friday night. I was still grossing over this till now but it was also partly my fault. But it had made me see what kind of service they do provide.

I was in rush and was late for team managers' briefing for the upcoming race in dragon boat. I hailed the taxi from the MRT station to get to the destination. The destination was Nee Soon South Community Centre.

I showed the first taxi driver the destination. He nodded and drive me all the way to the place.

Wah liaoz. When i looked up to the name of community centre(CC), it was Chong Pang. I asked him if it was correct place. He nodded and said that it was correct place. "Chong Pang is Nee Soon South."

I looked at him and paid the fare. I was in hurry and find the meeting room. Hey...right place or not? My instinct tells me that it was wrong. I walked to the main office and asked the lady if it was Nee Soon South CC. She said no. She told me that it was at Khatib Central. I fumed!!!! $5.00 was eaten up by that stupid taxi driver.

I hailed another taxi as the time was running short. I showed him the destination. He nodded and said that i know the place.He immediately drove and stop at the place. Wrong place.

I said to him it was NEE SOON EAST CC!!! He looked at the word and said sorry. I said that it was at Khatib.

He said oh i know where the place is....

Drive drive in one circle in whole Yishun and then cannot find. I WAS so frustrated and asked for street directory. He said DONT HAVE. Wah liaoz

He stopped and ask his fellow taxt driver where the place. The fellow taxi driver gave him the direction. It turned out to be MERRY GO ROUND.

I was sooo snappy and snapped at him. STOP.... He stopped and said that Nee Soon South CC was some where near. I know where it is....

I said that you know where and we go in one circle. STOP.

He listened to me. My instinct tells me that it may be beyond khatib.

I told him to follow my direction. FOUND the place after MERRY GO ROUND. I was furious and demand refund from him.

He said okay okay.

One hour wasted and i missed the meeting!!!!! I m thanking my lucky star that the person in charge saw me arriving late and said that he will email what had transpired in meeting.

He is so sweet and understanding. PHEW.. No excuse is whipped at him.

I went home feeling sooooo annoyed at the taxi drivers' egoistic attitude. I will definitely look up at the street directory next time before i go to any unknown place.

It was my fault too...NEVER look up in directory.
